RICHIE SAMBORA is in New York City to celebrate guitar legend LES PAUL''''s 90th birthday by inducting LES PAUL into the SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME. Richie walked the red carpet and gave some interviews then headed inside the Marriot Marquis for the cocktail hour, dinner (he sat with Les Paul) and award ceremony. Richie spoke about Les Paul''''s role in music history and then introduced Les Paul so he could accept the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award. Richie had a rehearsal on Wednesday night and then performed How High is The Moon and joined in a jam. RICHIE is also included in an upcoming LES PAUL TRIBUTE Album (previously confirmed) entitled AMERICAN MADE WORLD PLAYED. He recorded the song LET ME ROLL IT in Los Angeles earlier this Spring. The album features performers such as Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, Joss Stone, Jeff Beck, Johnny Rzeznik, Steve Miller and Sting joining Les Paul in the studio. The album is slated for release on August 30th. A small charity date long in the works under the radar was finally made public when it was announced that JON BON JOVI would be doing a small acoustic performance at the new TWO RIVERS THEATRE in RED BANK, NEW JERSEY on Monday, July 11th (which, for those of you marking your calendars is also Mr. Sambora''''s birthday.) The money raised from the sale of tickets goes to the education program the theatre runs. The theatre is brand-spankin'''' new. Jon (and his wife, Dorothea) hosted a fundraising event in April for the theatre in their local community and their involvement continues with this intimate event. JON BON JOVI is in Sin City -- he''''s in Las Vegas for the Arena Bowl festivities. Tonight (Thursday) he will accept (along with John Elway) the FOUNDERS'''' AWARD from the AFL for his role in promoting the profile of the Arena Football League. Jon won''''t be staying in Vegas for the big Arena Bowl game on Sunday though -- he''''s hosting a private fan club listening party. Those lucky fan club members will get to hear the new Bon Jovi music. JON BON JOVI was in Miami, Florida on Tuesday night (June 7) and performed a suprise acoustic set at a private event at the Versace Mansion on South Beach -- we don''''t have any more details at present but when(if) we''''re given them, we''''ll share! (We know the trio of Bobby Bandiera on guitar, Lorenza Ponce on violin and Jeff Kazee on keyboard joined him for a few songs before they hit the nightlife!) PHY has this magazine and it is mailed out to members of the Biography Club; JON is featured on the cover (the Annie Liebovitz photo from the A&E Naked Truth campaign.) Should be arriving at members'''' homes soon but sorry - not expected to be on newsstands. Keep in mind, no new interview was done for the piece - most of it is lifted from the Biography program done on Jon! from the official Bon Jovi website |
